Hello, Glad you found the new SKAO Q & A Homepage. It is here that you will find the scheduled SKA Q & A talks for 2017.
SKAO stands for SKA Office. The SKAO Q & A Lunchtime Question and Answer sessions encompass an array of interesting topics from every department within the SKAO. SKAO Q & A sessions provide an opportunity to get to know more about the SKAO and a give staff an occasion to ask the all-important questions you have always wanted answers to; whilst enjoying your lunch. And of course, external Guest Speakers are also welcome to give talks as well!
There will be sessions set for various times of the morning or afternoon and on various days of the week but in the main, sessions will generally occur on Wednesdays from 12.00 – 12.30 usually in the Rawlings meeting room (meet 01). We are eagerly looking for guest speakers for our 2017 SKAO Q & A calendar. Please let us know what you are interested in hearing talks on. If you have an idea for a good discussion please click here to access the Suggested Topic Spreadsheet. As a reminder, we are committed to keeping a fair balance of gender, location, topics, seniority, etc. Please consider these elements when making recommendations.
Note that we sometimes receive suggestions throughout the year, which we appreciate. For logistical reasons the schedule is often booked many months in advance so we will do our best to accommodate. However, the best way to ensure full consideration for your suggestions is to make sure your suggestions appear in the Suggested Topic spreadsheet. 13 Sept | Nick Rees (introduction) & Ian Spence | SAFe Q & A – Introduction to the Scaled Agile FrameworkSKA has selected the Scaled Agile Framework (also known as SAFe) for construction of the SKA Computing and Software products. Since all elements of the SKA have a software aspect this decision has wide ranging implications for the construction phase of the SKA. Even if SAFe isn’t used for a particular product it may have an impact because it is a significantly different way of working than what we have used in the past. This talk is a presentation on SAFe by one of the UK’s leading SAFe consultants, Ian Spence, who we have contracted to help us develop a plan for implementing SAFe and who will also be giving a one day workshop to all consortia in early October. Please come along and learn about SAFe, and participate in the Q&A session that will follow.
